The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) actuator and Electric Unit Control Unit (ECU) play a crucial role in providing an accurate vehicle speed signal to the combination meter via the Controller Area Network (CAN). This signal is essential for various vehicle systems, including the speedometer, cruise control, and traction control, to function correctly.

ABS and ECU Functions

The ABS actuator modulates the brake force applied to each wheel during braking, preventing lock-up. The ECU monitors wheel speed sensors and controls the actuator to optimize braking performance. Signal Transmission via CAN

Troubleshooting Abnormal Signals

If an abnormal vehicle speed signal is detected from the ABS actuator and ECU for more than two seconds, the combination meter will display an error code indicating a fault in the ABS system. This could be caused by a malfunctioning ABS actuator, a faulty wheel speed sensor, or a problem with the CAN communication.
